It's cool to be square blog hop

Today is my day for the It's cool to be square blog hop. Thank you Carol @ justletmequilt.blogspot.com for hosting this hop and letting me join.   I was going to share a beautiful quilt I am working on, but it is not happening.  I have had to switch to hand piecing as there is no room in my house to sew right now.  We are under major construction at my house right now.    But man it will be nice when we are done.

So instead of sharing a quilt, I have chosen to share some hot pads.  Hot pads are a huge necessity at my house.  I love to cook and bake.

These hot pads whip up fast, and I am glad I had some already done.

I put 2 layers of batting and 1 layer of insul bright in my hot pads to make them thick for outdoor cooking.  Cast iron dutch ovens get hot.

Here is a link to a tutorial I did on hot pads

I hope to get at least the top of my quilt done this week and I will definitely share it.  Here is a peek of the quilt I am working on

Please join these other bloggers to see what they are sharing.

  3. It's so hard to sew during home projects (and moving like I'm doing) but I'm glad you took some time to share your potholders with us. My potholders are not looking very pretty so thanks for the inspiration and for being a "cool" blog hopper!

  8. I love potholders. But I always do them as rectangles. Maybe I should try a square one now?

  12. The sneak peek. is very inviting. Love the colors. Hot pads are wonderful aren't they, so many uses. In fact I'm using one this morning as a mug rug cause it was handy.

  13. Good idea on all the extra insulation for outdoor hot pads (not that I do a lot of outdoor cooking but you never know).
