Winter blues blog hop

Welcome to the winter blues blog hop.  This blog hop is hosted by Carla at www.createinthesticks.blogspot.com.   when I saw the title of the hop I knew I had to do it.  You see, I have about 5 quilts that I am working on with blue in them.   I thought GREAT!!!! I can get some of these quilts done.  Well, reality set in.  There has been lots of long hours at work and a hubby who has not been in great health and I wasn't getting to my machine as much as I wanted.

When I make quilts, I tend to go with  bed size quilts and they take time to do.

As I said, I have about 5 in progress.

I have a churn dash I am doing for my son and daughter in law.

A BYU quilt for my hubby.

A star quilt for a grandson

A  Cinderella wall hanging  for a daughter.

And this one for a daughter and son in law.

Well, the blog hop was fast approaching and I was not getting things done fast.  I wanted a finished project and then I got thinking I could make a doll quilt for a granddaughters birthday.  She just turned 2 and she loves her baby dolls.

Then I thought a sleeping bag would be fun.

I had so much fun making the sleeping bag.

As soon as it was done, I ran down to the basement, to the toy box to get the baby doll I had to take a picture.  Then I ran upstairs and showed my hubby.  He thought it was cool.

When we had the birthday party on Sunday, I gave it to her and we showed her how to put her baby in there.  She loved it.

There are requests to make sleeping bags for other dolls, Barbie dolls, and even stuffed animals.  And yes, grandma will do everything in her power to get more done.  These are great scrapbusters.

I love to hear your comments.    In fact, lets do a giveaway.   U.S. only.   I will give away 1 doll sleeping bag and 1 doll quilt.   Tell me what colors you like with blue.  Contest closes on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 10 pm mountain time.  A random winner will be chosen on Monday Jan 27. Please leave an email so I can get in touch with you.

The blog hop goes all week.   Please take time to visit all of the bloggers and see the fun ideas they have.

  1. Wow, what a prize! That's a great idea - the sleeping bag. I loved seeing all your projects in process, but the sleeping bag is so cute! I'd love to win a blue and anything one, because I think everything goes with blue. Thanks for the chance to win. You are going to be making quite a few of these as news spreads. dezertsuz at gmail

  2. This is so sweet and nice of you to give a set away. I would donate it to our Women's Shelter. I donate at least 15 quilts a year to them. Some years I get 30 quilts done. The children suffer the most in these situations.

  6. I love each and every one of your starts and since they all have predetermined owners I know they will get done in time. The sleeping bag is priceless. It is a terrific idea and looks so cute with the baby doll in it. I'm just sorry that I don't have a little girl anywhere in my life to make one for. Therefore if I win please pass it on to another where it can be used and loved.

  7. A baby doll sleeping bag, why didn't I ever think about that? I make a lot of baby doll quilt, mostly they are just practice pieces that I add a binding to. My great niece loves them. I love blue and yellow together though you wouldn't know it by looking at my blue quilts. Thank you for the idea, yours is so cute.

    1. Carol,

Yes. I have a lot of in progress works. The plan was that at least one of those would be done in time for the hop.life for busy between work and my hubby not feeling well. The biggest issue with his health is the doctors are stumped. They can't figure out what is wrong. He has A Fib, but also some other issues. As far as work slowing down, that is another story. The sales people keep telling me there is more coming my way. Eventually those works in progress will get done.

  15. Hi Kathy! OMG! This is SO incredibly sweet. My little one (great-niece) just turned one on the 4th and she got her very first baby. She carries it around everywhere with her - every.where. It has to take a nap with her, of course. She 'reads' to the baby, it has to eat nearby for eating. Holy moly - I need to make a sleeping bag STAT. And that Cinderella wall hanging - that is SO cool. I'm so glad I visited today - I'm going to PIN your idea and show it to her mom. Then we'll get the measurements of her baby - we wouldn't want it to be too small, would we?! Her Olaf quilt is blue and white with some sparkly gray. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. I thought that is what quilters do. In all seriousness I needed a gift for her birthday. The only kind of shopping I really enjoy is for fabric, so I decided I needed to make something. This came to mind and I thought why not. I even texted my boss a picture and said see, this is what I can do on a Saturday when you don't call me in to work.
Check back on Monday as I will announce the winner.
