Hi!!! Welcome to the shades of blue challenge blog hop. This challenge is being hosted by Carla @ https://createinthesticks.blogspot.com/. I have enjoyed doing these blog hops and plan to enjoy more in the future.
The challenge of course is shades of blue. I love blues. In fact, I am working on 3 quilts that use blue fabrics. For this one that I am sharing today, I made it to use as a sample for some of my quilting classes that I am teaching. I did have to add a little yellow as I do like yellow and blue together.
For the quilting I did a couple of different designs and used glide thread. Glide is my favorite thread. It is a polyester thread and I love the sheen that it has.
I would love to hear your favorite brands of thread. I would also love you to join me on my social media. Instagram is www.instagram.com/kathyskwiltsandmore. Facebook at www.facebook.com/kathyskwiltsandmore and my website at Kathyskwilts.com

Fairly recently I started using glide on my quilting machine, not for every quilt, but for a fair number. I like the way it sits into the top, and the array of colours available makes finding the right one easy. That's a very nice quilting design. I don't believe I have seen it before.
ReplyDeleteGlide is my go-to thread too! I love the sheen and my longarm loves the thread. That's a win-win for me! LOL!! I love using fleece on quilt backs. The definition the quilting give it, is out of the world!
ReplyDeleteYour sample piece is lovely; it really shows off the quilting.
ReplyDeleteI like your blue quilt and the variety of quilting you used in it. Thanks for showing the back of the other quilt. Neat quilting design!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and quilting. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat fleece looks so soft. Love the quilting on it.
ReplyDeleteA fleece background is perfect and blue for the hop, too. Blue and yellow is a wonderful combination. You achieved stardom for this blog hop.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love Glide. My machine loves it as well. I also use a lot of Aurifil as I have a plethora of colours! The quilting on the fleece looks great!
ReplyDeleteI use a lot of Aurifil but I do like Glide. Such pretty quilting on both blue projects!
ReplyDeleteI like yellow and blue together, too. I don't often use a polyester thread, as I like cotton on cotton. I use Aurifil and Superior, both, and am happy with both on my longarm, which I haven't used in a while with health issues. I use it with my walking foot on small projects, too. The fleece does look great with quilting. I usually like the back of a quilt with muslin, white, or a solid color that shows off the quilting. Your class looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt. I agree, I like blue and yellow together. I think blue is one of those colors that pairs with easily with others. Your quilting is dreamy. Be sure and share your blues on social media. It's fun to bring more viewers to our hopping party.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fun sample. I love glide but I also like So Fine and cotton threads too, Aurifil is my favorite. So many threads, it just depends on what I am doing.
ReplyDeleteNice project and that quilting is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your projects! I intend to learn more about machine quilting, now that I have a new machine that will help me with even stitching.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty little quilt. I also like yellow with blue.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and simple. My favorite thread is Aurifil.
ReplyDeleteBlue challenge snow photo? LOVE!!! Best of luck finishing up that fleece backed quilt, too.
ReplyDeleteI love yellow and blue too - it's a sweet little quilt! xx
