I had a hard time choosing a pattern. There are so many that I liked. I choose the Be Brilliant swimsuit pattern. I made this one for my granddaughter and am planning to make another one for her and then a couple for the other two granddaughters.
This is an easy pattern. The instructions are very well written and easy to follow and understand.
I did not have swimsuit lining, so I used the same fabric for the lining. I bought my swim fabric at a local store www.nuttallbernina.com. I like that I can buy it off the bolt or as a flatfold.
There are a couple of features that really appealed to me. They are the skirt and the swim shorts.
When I gave this swimsuit to my granddaughter she was very excited, and couldn't wait to get pictures done. She then asked her mom if she could wear it the rest of the day. I am so very glad that she loves it and is very excited to wear it.
Now to find a day to go swimming. If you like this pattern, hop on over and order it. All patterns are on sale right now. Www.ellieandmac.com?aff=183

ReplyDeleteLove this Kathy! Can you tell me about how much it cost for fabric and pattern. I'm wondering if it makes more sense to buy a suit or sew one. Since I have twins I guess the pattern cost is well spent.
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle,
DeleteIs this the friend that used to live in my neighborhood? I taught a boy in Primary, had one in scouts, and they were friends with my boys? I miss you and your family.
To answer your question. I got the fabric for 7.99 per yard. I bought it at Nuttalls, which is where blockbuster used to be. I think I was able to squeeze it out of 1 1/2 yards. I used regular swim fabric to line it with, as I had no swimsuit lining. Krystal found swimsuit lining for a good price on ebay. The pattern is on sale right now for 5.82. I would say make it, because you do get a better quality. I sew because these girls are tall and skinny and I get a much better fit. Their dad is 6'4". Stephen now stands 6'6".
This is a great pattern! Such a lovely swimsuit! I love the fabric choice! Perfect for summer swimsuit!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. She loves it.
DeleteThis is really cute. Great job!
