If you remember, on Saturday, I posted a tutorial for a pillow cover. This is one she made. She used the rotary cutter, and did have a small mishap. She is fine.
Today, she is going to share how to make a dolly pillow. She loves to get grandma's scraps. For these little pillows, you can use even charm squares and they work for Barbie dolls as well.
We usually use just whatever grandma has.
You need:
2 pieces of fabric
Stuffing
Thread
Scissors
Machine
Take your 2 pieces of fabric, put right sides together and sew along 3 sides with a 1/4" seam.
Turn right sides out and stuff. I teach her to stuff as tight as possible.
Sew the opening closed with just like a top stitch.
Your little girl has a gift to give to a friend for their dolls.

DeleteMy six year old granddaughter, Kayleigh, asked for the first time to sew something so she and I made a doll pillow, too. She was so excited and I was very proud!

If I ever have grandchildren I hope to do this very thing - teach them to sew! I had a "mishap " with my rotary cutter too. It took a while for me to be better. Since...I am MUCH more cautious!

A Christmas of 2015/16, I had a sewing day with my grandson, and he made a quilt for his stuffed puppy, pulled fabric and made the pattern of squares, and sewed and quilted it all, no help just guidance from me. Last night he had it out again and showed us on FaceTme! Moments like that, and this blog post for you, make our nana hearts full right?

My grandmother crocheted, and as a young child, I watched her, and asked about it. She gave me a piece of red crochet thread, a hook, and showed me how to chain. I took it from there, and have loved crocheting the six decades since! I always think of her as I work! That time she spent with me was a great gift of Love, that I will always treasure!... You are doing this with your Granddaughter!!
