I haven't been blogging for a while and I am glad to be back at it. We decided it was time to retire, so we sold our home and bought a new one in a small town. I grew up in a small town and I absolutely love it. It is really quiet and peaceful. I mentioned that we retired, so now I want to spend time writing quilt patterns and teaching at quilt guilds and retreats.
On to the reason you are here.
When I thought about what quilt I wanted to share today, I decided that my yellow brick road quilt was the one. I love this quilt and the colors in it. This pattern was designed by www.atkinsondesigns.com and is a very fun and easy quilt to make.
I have made it a few times and have taught it 3 or 4 times in a beginning quilting class.
These are from some of my students:

ReplyDeleteI really like your Yellow Brick Road--so colorful! It is neat to see what your students have made too. It's interesting to see how the use of different colors changes a quilt's look. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is a wonderful addition to the World of Color. It's also a great teaching example for newbie quilters.

ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE Yellow Brick road, it was one of the first quilt patterns I ever bought as a beginner quilter and I made lots of donation quilts with that pattern! Your version and the others look great! that's what I love about that pattern, you can't go wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteYours is a fun quilt with a very happy feeling about it. Hope your retirement time is all you wish for

ReplyDeleteWhat happy pretty quilts. Love all the colors.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your retirement. LOL Yellow Brick road was my kryptonite for some reason. Then I discovered a very important part of the instructions was out of sequence (at least in my mind). My friend Nancy made me a tutorial and I finished the flimsy. LOL Your quilt is lovely, and your students did an awesome job.
ReplyDeleteHappy retirement! I grew up in a small town too, so I know what you mean. Your YBR quilt is so pretty in those purple and pinks. Fun to see the other versions too!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your work, Kathy! Looks like you're a great teacher, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt - I love the bright colours in yours. And it's always fun to see the same pattern in different fabrics.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt to share with the Hop! It looks amazing in almost any color/fabric combination. I've made that pattern many times. It may be time to make another one! :o))
