Peek-a-who blog hop

Welcome to my day on the Peek a Who blog hop hosted by Marian at seamstobesew.com.   originally, I was going to make a fun quilt, then a table runner, then plans changed again  so I made a pillow.   Why did plans change?  More overtime than expected, and a big mess in my basement

On Sunday, I was heading out the door for church and smelled something awful.  I head downstairs and find a mess in my family room, laundry room  storage room, and NO!! not my sewing room, yes  the city sewer system in my neighborhoodbecame clogged and I had a mess.  Everything is in the carport and my sewing room is in garbage bags so I don't know where anything is.

Good thing I had some fabric at work as I was getting ready to do a quilt and would work on it at lunch time.  Time was short, so I made a simple throw pillow.  I love pillows.  They are fun and I like to make seasonal throw pillow covers.  I couldn't find the right size throw pillow in my house, but this pillow cover is 12 inches.

Fabric is called Hallows Eve and is a www.northcott.com fabric.

So, what are you up to for Halloween and fall decorations?

    1. Hi Lori,

At this point, it is cleaned up, except for replacing walls that had to come out. Glad you love the pillow and thanks for visiting.

  10. Oh that is terrible. It happened to my husband's mother. Messed up her furnace/A/C unit and water heater. Also unless things had been in plastic totes anything which was in a paper box and it's contents had to be thrown away. He and I worked on the clean up for 2-3 days. After it was done we had to wash down the walls, and floor with a heavy duty disinfectant. Best wishes for your clean up, and your pillow turned out great. Thumbs up for powering through wne things went wrong.

    1. I threw a lot of stuff away that was in cardboard boxes. I also had 10 yards of fabric I was working from, that I had left on the storage room floor. Never again. Plastic bins, and on shelves from here on out.

Glad I was able to sew during lunch time at work.

  12. What a terrible thing to discover at any time. I hope the city insurance is paying for the clean up! In the face of awful odds, you still produced a great project! It's so simple and yet so appealing. It makes me wonder why I never thought of it. The pumpkins are great! Thanks for soldiering on instead of cancelling out. =)

  13. Susan,

Thank you. Yes, the city paid for clean up, now we need to see if they will pay for restoration. I am missing about 18 inches of walls, carpeting and tile. Time will tell. I am glad I was able to find a way to make it work. Thanks for visiting.

  16. How horrible. I hope everything gets back to normal, or better with a rearrange, very soon. I also hope the city foots the bill for EVERYTHING. Still, you managed to make a fun pillow to show us. Nicely done. And think of the story you have to tell for years when anyone comments on your pumpkin pillow. :)
