TGIFF 9/28/2018

Today i am hosting TGIFF - Thank Goodness it is finished Friday and I am featuring a quilt I made for my oldest daughters wedding 10 years ago.  This quilt has quite the story.  2 or 3  weeks before her wedding, we were ready to hand quilt it, and I found some mistakes. I undid what I needed to, and we were left with about a week to hand quilt it.  We had it set up at my mother in laws house in her basement, and everyone was told to work on it as they had a chance. I spent a lot of time over there quilting.

Miraculously it got done.  Fast forward to September 2014, she goes to have a baby and gets sent home from the hospital as labor is not progressing. They gave her something that would help her sleep or help labor. Next thing she knows, she is in labor, at home, and cannot get to the car to get to the hospital. Hubby calls 911, water breaks and baby is coming.   She ends up delivering at home in the we hours of the morning. I get the call and hubby and I make the hour drive south. In the meantime, she has a neighbor sitting with her 3 kids who are sleeping, so we go to take over.  We decide to clean up the mess, as they take her and baby to the hospital, to be sure everything is fine. Police, paramedics and her hubby helped her through the delivery. Cord was around baby's neck a few times. So, we are cleaning and I decide th email quilt needs washed. 3 times in hot water.  Dry it and it still smells.  Wash again and hang outside.    This quilt took a while to make and I could not bear the thought that it may be ruined.    I was glad to find that we were able to save it.

Lotion Bar by Love +Leche product review

Every now and again, I get an opportunity to try a product and share it with my readers. Today I am sharing a fun, wonderful product, that I recently got to try.

Do you have dry hands? Chapped lips?  This is a product for you.

This is the lotion bar and anywhere balm from www.loveandleche.com.  I got the lavender rosemary, two of my favorite scents.  Their products are all made by hand with natural ingredients.    I work with fabrics all day at work and then go home and sew and quilt and my hands get very dry. The lotion bar makes them very soft again.

There is also a small tin of anywhere balm that can be used on your lips or really anywhere on your body.



I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend that you try it.

Getting organized

Today I want to share with you one of the ways I am getting organized. It is a great app called Sew Organized and it is available for both iOS and Android. This app gives you everything at your fingertips.


 For instance, have you ever walked into a fabric store, patterns on sale for a great price, so you buy as many as you can, and you get home, and as you are putting those patterns away, you start finding duplicates? Yes, I have done that as well. This app gives you a place to list those patterns. You can take pictures of the front and back of the envelope.

What about all the fabric you have. Wouldn't it be nice to have it all neatly folded and know how much you have of each piece? Yes. This app gives you a place to do that as well.

 This weekend, I have been trying to organize my sewing room and have been putting this app to the test. I have loved it.

 This is just some of what I have done.
And what about the projects you have started. I have a few that I keep running into, and this app gives you a place to store that info, as well as a shopping list, and even measurements. So, you can take your whole sewing room shopping with you.

 Here are some things you need to know about the app: Photo storage is on "the cloud" so you aren't taking up space on your mobile device. You can log in on any iOS or Android device When you download the app, it gives you 100 photos free, you can spend about $1 per month to get more photo storage and removal of the ad banner. I have to tell you, I am really liking this app.  I encourage you to look this app up, install it and try it. You have nothing to lose because it is a FREE app. You like free, right? So do I.

Make a list Monday Sept. 10

Wow. We are 9 months into this year. Month 12 is Christmas. When you take 9 from 12 you get 3.  I guess I better get serious about getting some quilts done, especially since some are for Christmas. There will be at least 7 quilts aimed for for Christmas.

So, here is the list for this week.

1.  The quilting on the Luminous quilt.  This is for the youngest granddaughter.  It is not perfect, but she will still love it.

2.  This is for the soon to be born grandson.  Need to get this done. Due date is a couple of weeks away.

3.  I am working on 2 squiggle quilts.  Not sure who they will be for.  Sometimes I make a quilt just because I like it.

4.  This is a quilt that I have started for my son and daughter in law.  I just need to get it done.

5.  This is another I started and have no clue who it will be for. I loved the pattern. What can I say?  This is called prints charming and is great for precuts.

6.  This one is for my oldest granddaughter. I think she will like it.

7.  This is one I need to finish piecing.

8.  This is a pile that needs to be quilted.  These are some for charity.

Yes, my list is long, and I know I am running into overtime at work, but, this is all relaxing for me.
